AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE 1988 CODE OF ORDINANCES OF
THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, BY REPEALING CHAPTER 17,
HEALTH AND SANITATION AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A
NEW CHAPTER 17, HEALTH AND SANITATION.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO,
IOWA:
That Chapter 17, Health awl Sanitation, of the 1988 Code of
Ordinances of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, is hereby repealed in
its entirety and enacting in lieu thereof a new Chapter 17,
Health and Sanitation, of the 1988 Code of Ordinances of the City
of Waterloo, Iowa, as follows:
Chapter 17
HEALTH AND SANITATION
SEC. 17-1 . ENFORCEMENT AUTHORITY.
Pursuant to Chapter 137, Code of Iowa ( 1989 ) , the City
Council may, by agreement, contract public health matters to
county boards of health, it is hereby established that the Black
Hawk County Health Department be, by agreement, designated as the
entity acting as the City's Board of Health. The Black Hawk
County Health Department is specifically responsible for the
enforcement of the following ordinances of the 1988 Code of
Ordinances of the City of Waterloo, Iowa:
(a) Food and Food Handlers - Chapter 15 (pursuant with
Chapters 170 , 170A, 170B, and 191A of the Code of
Iowa-1989 ) .
(b) Garbage and Refuse - Sections 16. 11 , 16. 12 , 16. 13 ,
16 . 14, Articles 2 and 3 .
(c) Junk and Junk Dealers - Division 2. Auto Salvage Yards
- Section 21 . 56 ,
(d) Litter Control - Chapter 23 . 5.
(e) Nuisances - Chapter 26 (appropriate sections) .
(f) Swimming pools - Chapter 33 . 5.
(g) Vehicles for Hire - Section 36 . 22 .
SEC. 17-2 . DISSOLUTION OF BOARD OF HEALTH.
Pursuant to state and local ordinances , the City Council of
the City of Waterloo, Iowa, acting as the Board of Health, shall
be and the same hereby dissolved as a functioning entity. All
former and past responsibilities and duties of said entity shall
be conferred upon the Black Hawk County Board of Health, as
hereinafter prescribed by agreement.
