Mayor Hurley reviewed items on the council agenda for Monday, May 4, 2009 and the following
items were discussed.
Councilperson Getty asked for a copy of the drawing for the Screaming Eagle American Bar &
Grill, 228 East 4th Street, which shows the layout for the Bike Night event to be held each
Thursday evening starting on May 7, 2009. City Clerk Nancy Eckert will provide the drawing to
him.
Lou Cutwright, Building Official/Maintenance Administrator, explained that the computer
maintenance management system agreement is a new initiative which will allow Black Hawk
County and the city to share the same maintenance software.
Sandie Greco, Superintendent of Traffic Operations, explained the ordinance prohibiting
parking between signs 20 feet either side of the driveway along the south side of the 1100 block
of Sycamore Street. This is the location of the former Black Hawk Sprinkler building which the
city uses to store equipment. With all the vehicles parked in that area, it's hard to get city trucks
in and out.
Mayor Hurley explained the agreement with Jim Walsh to provide legal services. The monthly
retainer fee will increase from $1,500.00 to $1,600.00, and the fees for attorneys working out of
the Clark, Butler, Walsh and Hamann office will increase from $95.00 per hour to $115.00 per
hour.
With no further business before the council, it was moved by Getty, seconded by Cole that the
meeting be adjourned at 8:10 a.m. Ayes: Six. Absent: Greenwood. Motion carried.
