Members present: Mayor Hurley, Hart, Getty, Welper, Reggie Schmitt, Greenwood.
Members absent: Cole, Steve Schmitt.
Moved by Reggie Schmitt, seconded by Welper that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved.
Ayes: Four. Absent: Cole, Steve Schmitt, Greenwood. Motion carried.
Mayor Hurley reviewed items on the Standing Committee for meetings scheduled for Monday,
July 20, 2009.
Greenwood now present at 8:02 a.m.
Mayor Hurley reviewed items on the Council agenda, for Monday, July 20, 2009 and the
following items were discussed.
Mayor Hurley reported that he received notice from Senator Harkin's office yesterday that the
city's buyout application has been approved.
Aric Schroeder, City Planner, explained that is an informal notice and now we have to wait for
formal official award, which we should receive in a week. The city will then have to sign an
agreement with Iowa Homeland Security and follow other administrative process before the first
offers are mailed out to the property owners. Mr. Schroeder stated that it would probably be two
months before the first offer is mailed out to property owners in the buyout.
With no further business before the council, it was moved by Greenwood, seconded by Reggie
Schmitt that the meeting be adjourned at 8:13 a.m. Ayes: Five. Absent: Cole, Steve Schmitt.
Motion carried.
