Members present: Mayor Pro Tem Reggie Schmitt, Cole, Getty, Steve Schmitt, Welper.
Members absent: Hart, Greenwood.
Moved by Welper, seconded by Steve Schmitt that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes:
Five. Absent: Hart, Greenwood. Motion carried.
An amendment to the Waterloo Code of Ordinances to add language for jewelry and precious
metals for licensing of Secondhand Goods Dealers was reviewed. The city is seeing businesses
coming to town dealing in secondhand merchandise such as jewelry, metals and firearms. At
this time, there is not a city ordinance that addresses this activity. The words jewelry, or
precious metal are included in the Section 3-4B, Article B, Secondhand Goods Dealers, of
Chapter 4, Businesses Relating to Sales. It was the consensus of the committee to place this
ordinance change on next week's council agenda.
With no further business before the committee, it was moved by Cole, seconded by Steve
Schmitt that the meeting be adjourned at 4:43 p.m. Ayes: Five. Absent: Hart, Greenwood.
Motion carried.
