October 5, 2009
4:40 p.m.
Council Chambers
Members present: Mayor Pro Tem Reggie Schmitt, Cole, Getty, Greenwood, Steve Schmitt,
Welper.
Members absent: Hart.
Moved by Welper, seconded by Steve Schmitt that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes:
Six. Absent: Hart. Motion carried.
An amendment to the Waterloo Code of Ordinances 2-8-2: Composition and Membership
paragraph B. Change in eligibility wording regarding appointment to the cultural and arts
commission. To be worded as follows: To be eligible for appointment to the cultural and arts
commission, a person must be at least 18 years of age and a bona fide resident of the city, except
that up to three (3) members may be bona fide residents of Black Hawk County who reside
outside the city limits.
Cammie Scully, Director of Cultural and Arts Commission, stated that expanding the board to
include other communities would also expand the audience, school tours and funding base. Then
representation would also be from outside the city.
It was the consensus of the committee to place this ordinance change on next week's council
agenda.
With no further business before the committee, it was moved by Welper, seconded by Steve
Schmitt that the meeting be adjourned at 4:45 p.m. Ayes: Six. Absent: Hart. Motion carried.
