Moved by Welper, seconded by Cole that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Six. Absent: Greenwood. Motion carried. Mayor Pro Tem Reggie Schmitt reviewed items on the Standing Committees for meetings scheduled for Monday, February 4, 2008. Mayor Pro Tem Reggie Schmitt reviewed items on the council agenda for Monday, February 4, 2008 and the following items were discussed. Greenwood now present at 8:03 a.m. Don Temeyer, Community Planning & Development Director, explained that the change order in the amount of $244,950.00 with D.W. Zinser for the former Chamberlain Manufacturing Property, Contract No. 741, is to add buildings #13 and #17 for asbestos removal and demolition. This building already has some roof collapse. There is money in the budget to add these buildings to the contract. Paul Huting, Leisure Services Director, explained that the application for Land and Water Conservation Fund grant in the amount of $50,000.00 is for development of Mark's Park. The park is to be located close to the newly constructed Youth Pavilion. They have received privation donations for the park and hope to supplement the donations with this grant. Leisure Services previously applied for a REAP grant for Mark's Park, but did not received any funds. Councilperson Welper reported that the Today Show had a section on the manufacturer of the Taser guns. The Taser guns are now available for the public to purchase. Councilperson Steve Schmitt commented that he received some calls regarding the sidewalk program with complaints that Bentley Construction has not finished up the work. Eric Thorson, City Engineer, responded that Bentley has cleaned up the construction area as best as they can until spring. The ground became frozen before Bentley Construction completed the project, and that was some of the problem with mail delivery on Franklin Street. Councilperson Steve Schmitt reported that he had a call from a person who was buying property on contract, and the property owner was foreclosed. She has no where to go and is looking for short term place to stay. Ethel Washington, Director of Waterloo Housing Authority, asked Mr. Schmitt to get with her and maybe they can help this individual. With no further business before the council, it was moved by Getty, seconded by Cole that the meeting be adjourned at 8:10 .m. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried. Nancy Eckert City Clerk
