HomeMy WebLinkAbout01.24.2008• COUNCIL WORK SESSION January 24, 2008 8:00 a.m. Council Chambers Members present: Mayor Hurley, Cole, Getty, Hart, Steve Schmitt, Welper, Reggie Schmitt. Members absent: Greenwood. Moved by Reggie Schmitt, seconded by Welper that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Six. Absent: Greenwood. Motion carried. Mayor Hurley reviewed items on the Standing Committee agendas for meetings scheduled for Monday, January 28, 2008. Mayor Hurley reviewed items on the council agenda for Monday, January 28, 2008 and the following items were reviewed. Mayor Hurley reviewed the agreement with the University of Northern Iowa to support development of the MyEntreNet Project. Council has already approved allocating $35,000.00 per year for the next two years. The Cedar Valley Alliance and the City of Cedar Falls have agreed to the same amount. Mayor Hurley explained that the ordinance adopting the Zoning Ordinance has been placed on the agenda to table indefinitely as questions have come up, and this will allow Planning staff to review and make recommendations. Eric Thorson, City Engineer, reviewed the proposed ordinance adopting Article B, Construction Site Erosion and Sediment Control, of Chapter 4, Storm Water Management Program. The proposed ordinance has been revised three times as staff has met and worked with homeowners and developers. The ordinance gives the engineering department authorization to regulate the Storm Water Management Program. Mayor Hurley noted the purchase of a digital sign for Waterloo Center For The Arts will be funded with Isle of Capri funds. With no further business before the council, it was moved by Cole, seconded by Getty that the meeting be adjourned at 8:08 a.m. Ayes: Six. Absent: Greenwood. Motion carried. Nancy Eckert City Clerk
