Mayor Pro Tem Reggie Schmitt reviewed items on the council agenda for Monday, May 12, 2008, and the following items were discussed. Michelle Weidner, Chief Financial Officer, reported that the Loan Note is to pay costs for funding termination payments to retiring employees, such as frozen sick time, vacation, etc. Ms. Weidner noted that the FYE09 budget does not require a loan note to pay for this benefit. The FYE08 budget was approved requiring the Loan Note, otherwise we would have had less people funded in the general fund. Dennis Gentz, Assistant City Engineer, explained that the preliminary and final design for the closure of Black Hawk Creek railroad crossing and Fletcher Avenue floodgates rehabilitation is due to some problems encountered with the gate during the recent floods. Mayor Pro Tem Reggie Schmitt noted that Westfield has a railroad track standing in the middle of nowhere. With no further business before the council, it was moved by Cole, seconded by Welper that the meeting be adjourned at 8:12 a.m. Ayes: Six. Absent: Greenwood. Motion carried. Nancy Eckert City Clerk
