Councilperson Welper reviewed items on the council agenda for Monday, May 19, 2008. The
meeting will be held at Veterans Memorial Hall.
In answer to a questions regarding the lease agreement with the Black Hawk County Board of
Supervisors for use of Cloverdale Park, Paul Huting, Leisure Services Director, noted that the
city has been leasing this park since 1971. The park is located off of Broadway and Burton, by
the county maintenance garage. Black Hawk County will not deed the land to the city as they
may want to use it some day to expand their maintenance garage.
Lou Cutwright, Building Official/Maintenance Administrator, reported that on Saturday, May
17, 2008, there will be a simulated shut down of power in City Hall to test the new power supply.
They will shut down power around 8:00 a.m. to make sure the new unit is working properly.
Councilperson Welper reported that a business owner contacted him regarding the dust at the
corner of Lafayette and Vinton. There is a trucking company next to the business and they have
a gravel parking lot and when trucks leave the parking lot they create dust, which lands on his
property. Councilperson Welper asked if there were anything the city could do to help the
business owner or is it just a private matter. Eric Schroeder, City Planner, noted that the new
zoning ordinance provides for parking lots to be paved or overlaid, but this location may have
been grandfathered in, but he will check the location and report to Mr. Welper.
The meeting ended at 8:16 a.m.
