Mayor Pro Tem Schmitt reviewed items on the Standing Committee agendas scheduled for Monday, February 19, 2007. Mayor Pro Tem Schmitt reviewed items on the council agenda for Monday, February 19, 2007, and the following items were discussed. The recommendation of the Leisure Services Commission on the dog park site, with first choice of Rooff Park on the east end of Hawthorne Avenue and the second choice being the site near the intersection of Ansborough Avenue and Hwy 63 was reviewed. John DeLorbe, Chairperson of the Leisure Services Commission Park Committee, reported the Park Committee has voted three times to approve the Ansborough site. There is a group who has always been concerned about using the Ansborough site and have different reasons why the site won't work. One of the group's concern about the Ansborough site was that it could flood, and then they suggested Hope Martin Park. Now this group is concerned about the size of the Ansborough site, and they say any site should be over three acres. Mr. DeLorbe stated the park committee has determined the Ansborough site to be four to five acres in size. Mr. DeLorbe stated from the Park Committee standpoint, they feel any site chosen by the council would be amiable. Paul Huting, Leisure Services Director, reported he is having a meeting with neighbors from the Rooff Park area at his office on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Councilperson Gunderson asked that the dog park site item be moved from reports to under resolutions to be adopted so that the council can make a decision. It was the consensus of the council present to move this item to resolutions to be adopted. The ordinance amending the Zoning Ordinance as it pertains to semi -tractors in residential areas was discussed. Don Temeyer, Community Planning & Development Director, reported he met with Councilperson Getty who was concerned about tractors running at night. Councilperson Gunderson commented he has been contacted by a couple of drivers saying they some times do run their tractors at night, especially when its'cold because it could cost them $500 if they do not keep it running. Councilperson Schmitt noted that the Traffic Ordinance does not allow them to park in the street. With no further business before the council, it was moved by Gunderson, seconded by Cole that the meeting be adjourned at 8:14 a.m. Ayes: Four. Absent: Welper, Greenwood, Getty. Motion carried.
