Members absent: Cole.
Moved by Kincaid, seconded by Cole that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Six.
Absent: Cole. Motion carried.
Mayor Pro Tem Schmitt reviewed items on the Standing Committee agendas for meetings
scheduled for Monday, October 8, 2007.
Mayor Pro Tem Schmitt reviewed items on the council agenda for Monday, October 8, 2007 and
the following items were discussed.
Don Temeyer, Community Planning & Development Director, reported the future storage
buildings on West Shaulis Road and Highway 63 will be used for storage of large items, such as
vehicles.
Doug Carter, Fire Chief, reported that Change Order No. 1 for an increase in the amount of
$916.00 regarding the installation of Emergency Generators at Fire Stations is for moving the
status panel to a new location so that it will be more accessible to the command staff at Fire
Station No. 1.
Nancy Eckert, City Clerk, reported that the Iowa Department of the Blind has notified the city
that they will no longer handle the vending machines at City Hall. Proposals were accepted from
two vending companies, with CL Swanson Corporation providing a lower cost for some vending
items.
Mayor Pro Tem Schmitt reported that the property located at 1604 Garden Avenue, which the
city is acquiring by Quit Claim Deed from the estate of Harriet Lorraine Walker, is on a large lot
in a nice area. A neighbor has been encroaching on the property with a chain link fence and a
gravel road which will have to be cleared up before the city sells the property.
Mayor Pro Tem Schmitt reported that the General Obligation Bon Demolition Project includes
houses at 1604 Garden Avenue, 522 Albany Street, 132 Edwards Street and 116 Harrison Street.
It also includes garages at 522 Albany Street, 428 Linn Street and 132 Edward Street, with
alternates to include 117 Argyle Street and 1931 Franklin Street.
With no further business before the council, it was moved by Gunderson, seconded by Getty that
the meeting be adjourned at 8:10 a.m. Ayes: Six. Absent: Cole. Motion carried.
