Council Chambers
Members present: Mayor Hurley, Kincaid, Welper, Greenwood, Getty, Cole, Schmitt.

Moved by Schmitt, seconded by Welper that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Six.
Absent: Gunderson. Motion carried.
Ned DeBerg, Fire Chief, updated the council on repairs to Platform 311. Chief DeBerg reported
the plan was to refurbish Platform 311. A few months ago council approved $151,316.00 for the
refurbishment project. On Thursday, the Fire Department found out the box is bad and an
additional $50,000.00 is needed. Chief DeBerg stated the Fire Department feels we should not
continue with the refurbishment project on Platform 311. The cost to date is $21,000.00. Chief
DeBerg will contact Sioux City to see if they are interesting in extending the lease for use of
their aerial truck.
Chief DeBerg reported Quint 308 is in a similar situation as Platform 311, and it is estimated to
cost between $175,000.00 to $200,000.00 to refurbish it. Chief DeBerg stated tonight on the
council agenda, bids are to be opened for a new pumper. If the bids for the pumper come in
high, Chief DeBerg suggested that those funds be used to refurbish Quint 308, and the city look
at purchasing a used aerial.
Councilperson Welper stated he feels by buying a used truck we are just buying someone else's
problem.
With no further business before the council, it was moved by Getty, seconded by Cole that the
meeting be adjourned at 5:01 p.m. Ayes: Six. Absent: Gunderson. Motion carried.
