HomeMy WebLinkAbout09.14.2006COUNCIL WORK SESSION September 14, 2006 8:00 a.m. Council Chambers Members present: Mayor Hurley, Welper, Gunderson, Getty, Cole, Schmitt. Members absent: Kincaid, Greenwood. Moved by Schmitt, seconded by Welper that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Five. Absent: Kincaid, Greenwood. Motion carried. Mayor Hurley reviewed the Standing Committees agenda items. Mayor Hurley reviewed items on the September 18, 2006 council agenda. Items discussed included: 1. The request of Shadow Creek Crossing to rezone property generally located east of 1012 Lois Lane and north of Schukei Road for purpose of multi family residential development. There is opposition to the rezoning, but not the required 20 percent within 250 feet of the property. The City Planner reported that 90 percent of the property is already properly zoned. They need a portion of Lois Lane and Bethel Street for the access roads. The developer has agreed to put in sidewalks and build condos, not apartments. 2. Awarding of the Kimball Avenue A.D.A. Pedestrian Way, Contract No. 711. The Contract Compliance Officer has not submitted his recommendation as of today. 3. Setting the date of hearing as October 2, 2006 on the F.Y. 2007 Fire Training Burn Pad and Burn Tower Paving Project, Contract No. 715. The Fire Chief reported he is applying for a state grant through Hawkeye Community College to pay for the project. With no further business before the council, it was moved by Getty, seconded by Welper that the meeting be adjourned at 8:18 a.m. Ayes: Five. Absent: Kincaid, Greenwood. Motion carried.
