HomeMy WebLinkAbout03.31.2005COUNCIL WORK SESSION March 31, 2005 8:00 a.m. Council Chambers Members present:: Mayor Hurley, Cole, Greenwood, Clark, Schmitt, Gunderson, Welper. Members absent: Kincaid. Moved by Welper, seconded by Cole that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Six. Absent: Kincaid. Motion carried. Items that are on the council agenda for Monday, April 4, 2005, were discussed with department heads who have items on the agenda. Mayor Hurley reviewed the Standing Committee agendas for Monday, April 4, 2005. Items discussed included: 1. The site plan amendment to the "S-1" Shopping Center Commercial District for redevelopment of the Crossroads Shopping Center building and overall site. A hearing will be held on April 25. Crossroads Mall is redoing the front of the building, and changing the traffic on Sears and Penney's Streets. Discussion have been held with them regarding who will pay for the signalization. 2. Vacation of the right-of-way described as the Mulberry Street crossover located west of the Franklin Street and Oak Avenue intersection. This will make the property a buildable site. 3. Councilperson Cole updated the council on legislation that Iowa Legislators are looking at concerning the Open Meetings law and tightening of the rules. Iowa League of Cities web site has information available explaining the changes. 4. Councilperson Welper reported there is a citizen wishing to address the council concerning officers in the schools and he will be at next week's agenda meeting. Mayor Hurley suggested a work session be scheduled for him. With no further business before the council, it was moved by Welper, seconded by Gunderson that the meeting be adjourned at 8:28 a.m. Ayes: Six. Absent: Kincaid. Motion carried.
