HomeMy WebLinkAbout03.24.2005COUNCIL WORK SESSION March 24, 2005 8:00 a.m. Council Chambers Members present:: Mayor Hurley, Cole, Greenwood, Clark, Schmitt, Gunderson, Welper. Members absent: Kincaid. Moved by Welper, seconded by Gunderson that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Six. Absent: Kincaid. Motion carried. Items that are on the council agenda for Monday, March 28, 2005, were discussed with department heads who have items on the agenda. Mayor Hurley reviewed the Standing Committee agendas for Monday, March 28, 2005. Items discussed included: 1. The site plan amendment to the "S-1" Shopping Center District for property located near the corner of Crossroads Boulevard and Bopp Street to construct a new Hampton Inn and Suites. Crossroads Ford is objecting to the site plan because of the height of the new building and concerns about the fill. 2. The agreement with Johnson Controls to perform maintenance/energy study is back on the agenda. The Board of Supervisors approved the agreement and we will be working as a unit. Johnson Controls' cost of $15,000 is based on square footage. 3. The award of bid for the F.Y. 2005 Street Reconstruction Program was discussed. Councilperson Greenwood asked how we compare with cities the same size and what they pay. Eric Thorson responded Waterloo is one of the few cities that does overlay programs, and he will try to compare with other cities. With no further business before the council, it was moved by Welper, seconded by Gunderson that the meeting be adjourned at 8:20 a.m. Ayes: Six. Absent: Kincaid. Motion carried.
