COUNCIL WORK SESSION
February 5, 2004

Council Chambers
Members present: Mayor Hurley, Kincaid, Cole, Greenwood, Clark, Schmitt, Welper.
Members absent: Gunderson.
Moved by Welper, seconded by Kincaid that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Six.
Absent: Gunderson. Motion carried.
Agenda items that have been placed on the council agenda of Monday, February 9, 2004, were
discussed with Department Heads that have placed items on the agenda.
Standing Committee agenda items were discussed.
Council reviewed the Memorandum of Understanding with Iowa Homeland Security and
Emergency Management to use the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center as a secured area
in the event of large scale medical emergency within the state.
Reviewed the agreement with Howard R. Green to provide site assessment services for the
former Chamberlain Mfg. Site at a cost of $265,000.
Don Temeyer, Community Planning and Development Director, reported that the bids received
for the F.Y. 2004 C.M.C. Parcel 2 Demolition, Contract No. 680, were being reviewed by staff
and staff is looking at the qualifications of the bidders. Staff is also looking at the base bids plus
what alternates will be included in the award of bid.
With no further business before the council, it was moved by Welper, seconded by Clark that the
meeting be adjourned at 8:20 a.m. Ayes: Six. Absent: Gunderson. Motion carried.
