Council Chambers
Members present: Mayor Hurley, Kincaid, Greenwood, Schmitt, Welper.
Members absent: Cole, Clark, Gunderson.
Moved by Welper, seconded by Kincaid that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes:
Four. Absent: Cole, Clark, Gunderson. Motion carried.
Agenda items that have been placed on the council agenda of Monday, March 22, 2004, were
discussed with Department Heads that have placed items on the agenda.
Standing Committee agenda items were discussed.
Council members discussed acquisition of property for the Ansborough/Highway 20
Interchange Project.
Mayor Hurley reported that a resolution to set the date of hearing as April 12, 2004 on a
Development Agreement with Hy-Vee will be placed on the agenda for property located at the
southwest corner of U.S. 63 and Heath Street to build a 37,000 square foot facility.
A work session is scheduled for Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at 6:00 p.m. to meet with neighbors on
the development of an apartment complex at the former Tunis Roadway property.
Mayor Hurley updated the council on the findings by Earth Tech on the Park Avenue Bridge.
Earth Tech along with the Fire Department investigating the piers and there is deterioration. The
northbound lane will be closed for an undetermined time until the water level goes down which
will allow access to the piers. The truck load on the bridge will not change. The public will be
notified of the closing of the northbound lane. Discussion are still be held with MidAmerican
Energy on the removal of the tree stump on the Cedar River Dam.
With no further business before the council, it was moved by Welper, seconded by Greenwood
that the meeting be adjourned at 8:25 a.m. Ayes: Four. Absent: Cole, Clark, Gunderson.
Motion carried.
