Council Chambers
Members present: Mayor Hurley, Kincaid, Cole, Greenwood, Clark, Schmitt, Gunderson,
Welper.
Moved by Welper, seconded by Kincaid that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes:
Seven. Motion carried.
Council Members reviewed items that have been placed on the council agenda of Monday, April
26, 2004 with Department Heads who have items on the agenda.
Mayor Hurley reviewed the Standing Committee agenda items.
Council discussed the following items:
1. Travel request for Greg Maifield to attend Shield Technology Corp. training
seminar in Des Moines, Iowa on May 2-5, 2004 and his upcoming retirement.
Reviewed if someone from MIS should go instead and they could train the new
employee.
2. Amendment No. 1 to the Northeast Industrial Area Development Plan and
rezoning of property located between Independence Avenue and Martin Luther
King to allow construction of a 608,800 sq. ft. distribution center.
3. Appointment of special legal council to review snowplow incident. Discussion as
to why we didn't have the Attorney General handle it or St. Paul Insurance.
Reviewed this is just to investigate as to whether there was any violation of the
Waterloo Traffic Code.
With no further business before the council, it was moved by Welper, seconded by Gunderson
that the meeting be adjourned at 8:22 a.m. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried.
