COUNCIL WORK SESSION
July 29, 2004
8:00 a.m.
Council Chambers
Members present: Mayor Hurley, Kincaid, Cole, Clark, Schmitt, Welper.
Members absent: Greenwood, Gunderson
Moved by Welper, seconded by Kincaid that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes:
Five. Absent: Greenwood, Gunderson. Motion carried.
Agenda items that have been placed on the council agenda of Monday, August 2, 2004 were
reviewed with Department Heads who placed items on the agenda.
Mayor Hurley reviewed the Standing Committee agendas for Monday, August 2, 2004.
Items discussed included:
1. Reallocation of $75,000 of unspent proceeds of the General Bpnds, Series 2003A
for the purpose to use partly for cost of the Park Avenue bridge. The bonds were
originally approved for street purposes and our bonding attorneys are requiring
we hold a new hearing to notify the public that we will be using the money for the
cost of the bridge.
2. Mayor Hurley is changing the format for the Thursday morning agenda meetings.
He is asking that council members who are liaisons to boards and commission
report any activities.
3. August 3 is National Night Out. Mayor Hurley reviewed if council members will
be attending. Staff is encouraged to attend
4. Councilperson Welper inquired on the logs on the Cedar River that have come
loose from the dam. At this time there is no plans for the city to clean up the
river.
With no further business before the committee, it was moved by Welper, seconded by Cole that
the meeting be adjourned at 8:13 a.m. Ayes: Five. Absent: Greenwood, Gunderson. Motion
carried.
