HomeMy WebLinkAbout09.30.2004COUNCIL WORK SESSION September 30, 2004 8:00 a.m. Council Chambers Members present: Mayor Hurley, Cole, Greenwood, Clark, Schmitt, Gunderson, Welper. Members absent: Kincaid. Moved by Welper, seconded by Gunderson that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Six. Absent: Kincaid Motion carried. Agenda items that have been placed on the council agenda of Monday, October 4, 2004 were reviewed with Department Heads who have placed items on the agenda. Mayor Hurley reviewed Standing Committee agendas for Monday, October 4, 2004. Items discussed included: 1. Allowing Basic Materials to dredge material from Tract F on city -owned property located in the East Lake/Brinker Lake. The city receives a minimum of $5,000 per year for the mining operations. Basic Materials and the Brinker family donated 72 acres to incorporate into the lake. The city has received approximately $250,000 since Basic Materials started mining the land. 2. An ordinance authorizing installation of yield signs on Pheasant Lane at the intersection of Brookeridge Drive. There is construction of new apartments on Pheasant. The traffic does not warrant stop signs. Sign & Traffic is still working on Allen & Pleasant. There will probably never be traffic lights on Phesant as it is a dead end. 3. Purchase of equipment for Waterloo Airport. The council approved the grant from the FFA to purchase the equipment, which is funded 95 percent with grant funds and 5 percent with PFC. 4. The request of the Grout Museum for $4,400.00 discretionary hotel/motel funds. With no further business before the council, it was moved by Clark, seconded by Schmitt that the meeting be adjourned at 8:52 a.m. Ayes: Six. Absent: Kincaid. Motion carried. Nancy Eckert City Clerk
