Aric Schroeder, Senior Planner, reviewed the amendment to the Zoning Ordi

accessory building regulations. The changes include:
1. Increase the allowable detached accessory structures from 800 to 850 square feet.
2. Place a limit on the size of attached accessory structures to the size of the
dwelling.
3. Exempt any structure less than 9 square feet and up to two accessory structures
that are less than 25 square feet from being included in the accessory limit to
account for small storage bins or other similar structures.
4. Prohibit accessory structures greater than 120 square feet t be constructed of
metal siding, except for horizontal aluminum siding com on on residential
structures, to help ensure that accessory structures are compa 'ble with residential
structures.
Freestanding metal framed carports or similar structures would be prohibit on any residential
property as they are considered incompatible to a residential neighborhoo . A public hearing
will be held on the changes at the September 20, 2004 council meeting.
With no further business before the council, it was moved by Welper, seconded by Clark that the
meeting be adjourned at 4:36 p.m. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried.
