HomeMy WebLinkAbout02.06.2003• COUNCIL WORK SESSION February 6, 2003 8:00 a.m. Council Chambers Members present: Mayor Rooff, Kincaid, Welper, Greenwood, Clark, Jordan, Hurley, Getty. Moved by Jordan, seconded by Welper that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried. Agenda items that have been placed on the council agenda for Monday, February 10, 2003, were discussed with department heads who have placed items on the agenda. Items discussed included: 1. Purchase of water softener for Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center. It will be purchased using the operation budget and is not a part of the renovation project. 2. The job description and qualifications for Contract Compliance Officer is scheduled to be approved by Civil Service on February 13, 2003. The job will be posted internally. 3. The sale of Lots A and B to Blake Construction Company. Jim Hoffman Construction has submitted a letter of objection. Council discussed putting notice in the paper when property is for sale and setting a time line for accepting bids. Ideals suggested were putting all property for sale on the city's website and placing larger signs on city -owned property informing the public that the property is for sale. 4. Contract with Black Hawk County to provide building maintenance administration. The Building Official/Maintenance Administrator currently spends about eight to ten hours per week on county maintenance. 5. Investigating finding money for Main Street's operation and helping to relieve them of their debt. Main Street would be required to allocate all SSMID taxes for economic development. With no further business before the council, it was moved by Getty, seconded by Welper that the meeting be adjourned at 8:31 a.m. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried. Nancy Eckert City Clerk
