COUNCIL WORK SESSION
May 21, 2001

Members present: Anders, Krizek, Murphy, Gronen, Getty, Berry.
Members absent: Jordan.
Moved by Berry, seconded by Anders that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Six.
Absent: Jordan. Motion carried.
Amendments to the Waterloo Code of Ordinances as they pertain to composition and quorum of
the Cultural and Arts Commission were reviewed. The Director of the Cultural and Arts
Commission has requested that the ordinance be amendment to change the number of members of
the commission from seven to eleven. The amendments would also change the numbers required
for a quorum from four to six appointed members. Kent Shankle, Cultural and Arts Commission
staff, stated that the purpose of the amendment is to enable the commission to have a broader
section of the community and greater diversity from the community. Mr. Shankle stated that
there has been interest from the community to serve on the commission.
Moved by Berry, seconded by Gronen that the amendments to the Waterloo Code of Ordinances
as they pertain to composition and quorum of the Cultural and Arts Commission be placed on the
council agenda for review and approval. Ayes: Six. Absent: Jordan. Motion carried.
With no further business before the council, it was moved by Krizek, seconded by Berry that the
meeting be adjourned at 4:48 p.m. Ayes: Six. Absent: Jordan. Motion carried.
