HomeMy WebLinkAbout08.06.2001 (2)• • COUNCIL WORK SESSION August 6, 2001 4:45 p.m. Council Chambers Members present: Mayor Rooff, Anders, Krizek, Murphy, Gronen, Getty, Berry. Members absent: Jordan. Moved by Krizek, seconded by Gronen that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Six. Absent: Jordan. Motion carried. The Flood Plan was reviewed by Councilperson Gronen and City Engineering staff. Councilperson Gronen thanked the City Engineer staff for putting together the Flood Plan. Councilperson Gronen reviewed the steps to be taken prior to the flooding, as the flooding nears and as the water recedes. Councilperson Gronen stated that they had meetings with KWWL to coordinate accurate weather information as part of the Flood Plan. Councilperson Krizek suggested that the Flood Plan be discussed with citizens in areas that have water problems. Mayor Rooff asked if those areas in town that have flooding problems could be incorporated into the plan. Councilperson Gronen reported that the message needs to get out to the community not to connect storm water with the sanitary sewer system. Councilperson Gronen reviewed the list of telephone numbers and agencies to contact in an event of a flood. Mayor Rooff stated that the Flood Plan is ready to be presented to the community for approval. Mayor Rooff asked Engineering staff, Tim Shea and Steve Decker to put together a list of areas that have problems during floods. Mayor Rooff asked that a copy of the Plan be sent to the Neighborhood Association and then be brought back to the council along with the list of areas that are affected by flooding. With no further business before the council, it was moved by Berry, seconded by Gronen that the meeting be adjourned at 5:02 p.m. Ayes: Six. Absent: Jordan. Motion carried. Nancy Eckert City Clerk
