Moved by Jordan, seconded by Murphy that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried. Don Temeyer, City Planner, reviewed the Rath Brownfield area. Mr. Temeyer reported that the city has received $200,000 from the EPA to look at the contamination problem, and $750,000 has been awarded by the EDA for demolition of the Rath Vertical Kill building. Additional funding will be used for renovation of homes and the Rath administration building, and development of parking. Mr. Temeyer reported that the Army Corps of Engineers has awarded the city $100,000 to study the hydrology of the Cedar River. The city was recently notified by Senator Harkin that the city will be awarded $500,000 of federal funds for rehabilitation of housing in the area. Mr. Temeyer stated that renovation of the 18th Street Bridge will help with the Rath area. The city has already received $1 million in STP funds for the bridge project, and we have applied for $3 million RISE funds. With development of the Rath area, the 18th Street bridge is vital for access to the area. With no further business before the council, it was moved by Getty, seconded by Gronen that the meeting be adjourned at 5:18 p.m. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried. Nancy Eckert City Clerk
