Moved by Krizek, seconded by Murphy that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Five. Absent: Jordan, Getty. Motion carried. The proposed fines for violation of Section 231/2-21, of Chapter 231/2, Litter Control, were reviewed. The city took over enforcement of Chapter 231/2, Litter Control, in April 1999. Two Code Enforcement Officers were hired. They have found the majority of the offenders readily comply, but there is a group that has difficulty understanding the concept of keeping areas clean. It is felt that if the maximum fine permitted by the state were in force, offenders would be reluctant to repeat the same offense. The following fines are proposed: Two Hundred Dollar ($200.00) fine for the first offense Five Hundred Dollar ($500.00) fine for the second offense, and Seven Hundred Fifty Dollar ($750.00) for each subsequent offense The proposed electrical permit fee adjustments were reviewed. With the adoption of the 2000 Waterloo Electrical Ordinance, the responsibility for setting fees was put in the hands of the council. Electrical fees have not been adjusted for six years. Electrical licensing fees are a little higher than Cedar Falls. Two new licenses were added with the new code, and those fees are set with this adjustment. There were two items where major adjustments were made: A. Re -inspection fee Present fee $10.00 New fee $42.00 B. Working without a permit Present fee $0.00 New fee $50.00 The re -inspection fee will be $42.00 for all codes. The re -inspection fee will be charged when an item has been inspected and something needs to be corrected, and the contractor asks for re - inspection and the problem is still not fixed. Councilperson Gronen asked if these costs will be passed along to the customers. Lou Cutwright, Building Official, stated that he is not sure how that is handle, but oftentimes the customers have signed a contract with the contractor. Moved by Krizek, seconded by Gronen that the proposed fines for violation of Section 231/2-21 and the proposed electrical fees be placed on the council agenda. Ayes: Five. Absent: Jordan, Getty. Motion carried. With no further business before the council, it was moved by Gronen, seconded by Berry that the meeting be adjourned at 5:01 p.m. Ayes: Five. Absent: Jordan, Getty. Motion carried.
