The Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa,
met in Special Session al City Hall
Council Chambers, Waterloo, Iowa, at
4:45 p.m., on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.
Mayor Pro Tern Ray Feuss in the Chair.
Rdi Call: Boeaen, Nichols, Amos, Chiles,
Grieder. and Feuss, joined the meeting
via Zoom. Absent: Wilder,

that the Agenda, as proposed, for the
Special Session on Tuesday, January 11.
2022, al 4:45 p.m„ be accepted and
approved. Voice vote -Ayes: Six. Motion
carded.
OTHER BUSINESS
106862 - Chilea/Grieder
that motion approving a new six-month
Class C Liquor License for Absalom
Lounge. 320 E. 4th Street, expiring on
June 1. 2022 and does not include
Sunday sales. Voice vote -Ayes: Six.
Motion carded.
Mr. Boesen commented that this liquor
license is currently on the draft January
18, 2022 agenda and questioned the
reason why there is a rush to approve the
application.
Mr. Amos commented that he had
requested the special session originally
when he requested the special session
for January 11 but that the kcense was
not included on the agenda. He explained
Mat the reason he believes the applica-
tion should be expedited is because the
applicant is not able to sell at the
establishment until the application is
approved.
Mr. Boosen questioned if the application
had expired.
Kelley Felchle. Ciry Clerk. explained that
the applicant had a six month license.
Which expired In November. The applicant
did nol file fora new license with the state
until December and the license was
submihed to Local Authority for review on
the afternoon of December 30th. Due to
the holiday, staff vacations. and timing,
city staff would not be able to sign off on
the application before the January 3rd
meeting. The next available meeting to
approve the license was January 18th.
Mr. Boesen questioned how long it
normally lakes an application to go
through the city approval process. He
also asked if this license has received the
necessary approvals from city staff.
Kelley Felchle shared that it everything is
In order and no issues are found during
inspections, an application could gel
through city staff approval within one to
three days.
