Moved by Getty, seconded by Murphy that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Five. Absent: Krizek, Collier. Motion carried. The Operations Policy for Memorial Hall was reviewed. City Clerk Nancy Eckert reported that the Operating Procedures have been written and approved by the Memorial Hall Commission. The procedures include sections covering the Building & Grounds, Operations, Education/Historical, Collection Policy and Finance/Fundraising. The policy includes procedures to use Memorial Hall, including rental and deposit fees for private organizations and individuals. The policy also covers items such as keys for the building, office and storage cabinets, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, ground maintenance, etc. Memorial Hall is a smoke free building and alcoholic beverages are not allowed. Commission members are concerned that smoking could damage the pictures and documents hanging along the interior walls and the artifacts. Mayor Rooff reported that he visited Veterans Memorial Hall today with Ray Moore. Mayor Rooff suggested that the commission send out letters to architects in the area asking for their help in renovation of the building. Mayor Rooff stated that the kitchen appliances also need to be upgraded. Mayor Rooff suggested that current private organizations that use the building be grandfathered in so that they will not have to pay a rental fee. Moved by Getty, seconded by Jordan that the Operations Policy for Memorial Hall be placed on the council agenda of April 12, 1999. Ayes: Five. Absent: Krizek, Collier. Motion carried. Tim Rippe, Chairperson of the Memorial Hall Commission, reviewed a pamphlet the commission is putting together to help with fund-raising for the building. The pamphlet lists the work completed by the city and lists additional items that will cost approximately $93,000. The pamphlet will be used to solicit donations for renovation of Memorial Hall. With no further business before the council, it was moved by Getty, seconded by Jordan that the meeting be adjourned at 6:05 p.m. Ayes: Five. Absent: Krizek, Collier. Motion carried.
