HomeMy WebLinkAbout06.06.2022 Work SessionCOUNCIL WORK SESSION June 6, 2022 4:20 p.m. Harold E. Getty Council Chambers Members present: Boesen, Nichols, Chiles, Grieder. Feuss and Amos joined the meeting via Zoom. Ms. Wilder joined the meeting at 4:15 p.m. 107373 - Grieder/Boesen that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Voice -vote Ayes: Six. Motion carried. Objective: Discussion of miscellaneous Zoning Ordinance Amendments. Aric Schroeder, Community Planning, addressed the council to give an overview of the proposed Zoning Ordinance changes. Mr. Amos expressed concerns regarding the replacement requirements for garages needing to be torn down in his ward the cost being prohibitive for many and asked that the ordinance be changed. Mr. Boesen commented there is an appeal process and that the council discussed looking at median income guidelines. Mr. Grieder asked for an explanation of the appeals process. The council discussed procedures and the appeals process with regards to buildings being deemed unsafe. Ms. Wilder questioned if Code Enforcement approved of the ordinance changes. Aric Schroeder responded that Code Enforcement feels there should not be a requirement for a replacement garage. The council discussed alternative wording and measures to address unsafe and dilapidated structures. The council agreed the issue would needs to be discussed at the June 20, 2022 council meeting. Discussion of downtown parking. Mr. Chiles addressed the council regarding parking history in order to start the conversation to address some of the parking issues. Updating meters, structure, fees or kiosk system. Isaiah Mouw, Republic Parking addressed the council regarding efforts to review and improve parking operations and procedures. There was discussion regarding accessibility, equipment updates and review of the fee structures for employees working in the area and customers visiting the downtown businesses. Mr. Amos asked the CFO for financial information regarding parking revenues. 107374 - Grieder/Chiles that the meeting be adjourned at 5:00 p.m. Voice -vote Ayes: Seven. Motion carried.
