Objective: Update from the Historic
Preservation Commission.
Ed Ottesen, Chair of the Historic
Preservation Commission, provided an
overview of the primary functions of the
commission. The commission requested
financial assistance to train commission
members and to start an incentive
program for low-income residents who
own historic homes that cannot afford to
fix them up to the standard outlined in the
Historic Preservation ordinance.
Mr. Amos questioned if anyone from
Memorial Hall has been in contact with
the Historic Preservation Commission
about the repair concems they have for
their building.
Ed Ottesen commented that there will be
some requirements they need to follow
and coming through the Historic Preser-
vation Commission would be helpful for
them.
Mr. Grieder questioned the dollar amount
the Commission would be requesting to
fulfill their training needs.
Ed Ottesen stated that they would get a
figure to the council members.
Mr. Nichols questioned if community
funds could be used to help people fund
historic repairs to their home.
Noel Anderson, Community Planning 8
Development Director, explained the
financial incentives that would be availa-
ble and added that CDGB Block Grants
would be available for those that want to
update their homes to that standard.
