Marcia Courbat, Treasurer, reported as of July 27, 2016, the brick fu has a balance of
$11,805.78, which includes $275 in recent brick sales. Two checks were given to Nancy Higby,
Secretary, for deposit into the Brick fund. There were no bills this period.
 etc, .
Marcia also noted that Jim Walsh, has donated$500 to the flag fund.
Ms. Courbat shared that a woman who purchased a brick in 2010 said she was unable to locate
the brick during her recent Memorial Day visit. Marcia was able to locate it in the records, but
could not find evidence that Black Hawk Memorial ever delivered it. Marcia is having that
rectified and has contacted the woman to let her know.
Chairperson's Report
Craig White, Chairperson, had nothing to report.
Committee Reports
Building, Grounds & Operations
Richard Hastings, Building, Grounds & Operations Chairperson, reported that the turn out for the
Veterans Care Fair had a good turnout. He doesn't have the actual head count but reported that
there were 75 people upstairs. He added that he was able to successfully maintain a comfortable
temperature in the building by roping off the front doors, and directing people use the handicap
entrance. He believes this effort should be used for future meetings, not just for temperature
control, but for safety as the concrete continues to deteriorate at the front steps.
Mr. Hastings reported that help will be needed for the August 13tt' Open House, as Marcia
Courbat will not be available.
Richard Hurtado added that there have been several plants added to the grounds and trees
trimmed in recent days.
Education/Historical
Randy Miller, Education/Historical Chairperson, reported that additional flags and new poles
continue to go up around town.

for the flag fund.
Finance/Fundraising
Marcia Courbat reported she has provided the credit union with the paperwork necessary to
prepare the grant. She submitted the request for$1,500 to cover pictures and the booklet.
Aftifacts Preservation
Mel Wittwer reported that progress continues. It is the goal to capture everything by years end,
and to add additional details as needed thereafter.
Unfinished Business
A discussion took place regarding interest in future tours of Memorial Hall. Craig White asked
that Richard Hastings find out if the answering machine was working, and if it is, suggested we
direct people to call the Memorial Hall for interest and reservations. Once it is deteiiiiined that
this is a viable option, it would be a good idea to add something to the Memorial Hall
Commission link on the City's website.
New Business

With no further business before the commission, it was moved by Miller, seconded by Mrzlak
that the meeting be adjourned at 5:20 p.m. Ayes: Nine. Motion carried.
