The afternoon and evening event is being put on to assist with the funding of future Waterloo Honor Flights, we are honoring all United States Veterans. This SHD Post 730 Show, which is open to all veterans and the general public alike, will honor all Veterans. Donations have been made by many individuals, groups, organizations and businesses in Black Hawk, Bremer, Grundy, North Tama and Buchanan Counties and will be used to fund future Waterloo Honor Flights. May 2, 2014 the doors to the Electric Park Ballroom will open at 12:00 NOON for the Chow Line will start 1:00 PM and will conclude at 4:00 PM. For the evening show the doors will open at 5:30 P.M. the Chow Line will start at 6:30 P.M. Chairperson's Report Chairperson White reported that the 3rd annual fund raiser for the Waterloo Honor Flight will take place May 2, 2014; sponsorship is $200.00 per table. On March 31st at 9:30 a.m. there will be a veteran's quilt presentation at Bridges, 214 Washington Street. Committee Reports Building, Grounds & Operations—Richard Hastings reported that the security system he was looking into is no longer available. Finance/Fundraising—Marcia Courbat reported she has a full copy of all the brick owners. She was unable to apply for the grant because Memorial Hall is part of the City of Waterloo. Members absent: None Also present: Doty-Simpson-Taylor, PhD USAF with the Sister Soldier Network, Inc. Moved by McMahon, seconded by Mrzlak that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Eleven. Moved by Ticknor, seconded by Ambrosy that the Minutes of November 20, 2013, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Eleven. Citizens Oral Comments There were none. Treasurer's Report Marcia Courbat gave the current Treasurer's Report. Ms. Courbat reported that the commission has sold 2843 bricks at $50.00 each and 5 bricks at $250.00 each for a total of$143,400.00, with a balance of$9,539.53 in the Brick Fund. Courbat current balance recorded at $9,186.53. She also reported that in the old accounting system account No. 3720, which was for personal donations had an estimated balance of $3,400.00 but isn't able to see that on reports since the new system was installed. Moved by Ambrosy, seconded by Hockey to pay two invoices to Black Hawk Memorial in the amount of$325.00. Ayes: Eleven. Motion carried. Chairperson's Report Chairperson White reported Committee Reports Building, Grounds & Operations—Richard Hastings reported that he would look into replacing the flag. He also stated he has a large video selection of the Revolutionary to Vietnam War documentaries and is for review at Memorial Hall. He also spoke in regards to a security system that he is reviewing for the hall that could be purchased for around $344.68, and tiles that need to be resealed in the hallways. Education/Historical—Randall Miller reported he is still working on the donation of a TV to Memorial Hall and Finance/Fundraising—Marcia Courbat reported that she as the Memorial Day event in place, but will not be able to physically participate this year. She also asked what funds are available to expenses. Operations-Chairperson Michael Dennis reported that the sons of Union have refurbished old memorial pictures and frames for presentation at Memorial Hall. Unfinished Business The broken window is being repaired. New Business Mr. Ambrosy stated Hudson Schools will volunteer to help with the placement of flags for Memorial Day.
