HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/04/2007 WATERLOO CABLE TV COMMISSION October 4, 2007 4:00 p.m. Mollenhoff Conference Room Chairperson Evanson called the meeting to order at 4:22 p.m. Members present: Chairperson Dan Evanson, Ed Hutchens, Larry Herzog, Willie Cody. Members absent: Janet Longus,Noel Thornsberry. Also present: Doug Nix, Ed Stoffer. Moved by Herzog, seconded by Cody that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Four. Absent: Longus, Thornsberry. Motion carried. Moved by Herzog, seconded by Cody that the Minutes of August 2, 2007, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Four. Absent: Longus, Thornsberry. Motion carried. Financial Report Nancy Eckert, City Clerk, distributed copies of the Public Access Studio budget for the month ending September 30, 2007 and reviewed expenditures and revenues. Chairperson's Report Chairperson Evanson reported that December would probably be his last meeting as he will no longer be eligible to serve on the commission. The city's code said that members may serve two consecutive terms and that a third term may be approved with the unavailability of applicants. Chairperson Evanson noted he has already served a third term. The City Clerk will investigate when Mr. Evanson's term expires. Report of Mediacom Net Doug Nix, Area Manager for Mediacom, reviewed the September and October 2007 monthly reports. Mr. Nix noted that most of the service calls were for the phone service. Mr. Nix reported that Mediacom is still in negotiations with the Big Ten Network. Mr. Nix noted that the Iowa Utilities Board has held the second round of comments on the policies and procedures on issuance of state franchise certificates. Mr. Nix reported that the emergency broadcast did not go off in July because Mediacom had new updates and all the settings were wiped out. The test came through but the broadcast did not go out. All settings are now working. Report from CT Production Coordinator Ed Stoffer, Cable Television Production Coordinator, reported that "The Apostolic Way" began airing in June. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority has contacted the studio to produce a 30 minute program. "The Final Call", a returning series, began airing last Monday. With no further business before the committee, it was moved by Cody, seconded by Hutchens that the meeting be adjourned at 4:43 p.m. Ayes: Four. Absent: Longus, Thornsberry. Nancy Eckert City Clerk
