Moved by Krizek, seconded by Getty that the Agenda, as proposed, be
approved. Ayes : Two. Absent : Mollenhoff .
Moved by Krizek, seconded by Getty that the Minutes for July 15,
1996, as proposed, be approved. Ayes : Two. Absent : Mollenhoff .
Motion carried.
The request of the Police Chief for authorization to sell cable
removed from old radio transmission tower to REACT for 50 cents a
foot or $125 . 00 was reviewed. During the Police Department' s
recent conversion to the 800 MHz radio system, the old transmission
system was removed from the tower on the east end of City Hall .
The removal included about 250 feet of 7/8 inch Heliax cable. The
cable, if purchased new, would cost approximately $1, 000 . 00 . The
old cable is in storage and there is no known present or future use
of the cable. The Cedar-Loo REACT, a non-profit emergency
communications and disaster services organization, has requested
that the cable be donated or sold for a token amount . The cable
would be used to relocate a radio repeater to a water tower in
Cedar Falls. It was moved by Getty, seconded by Krizek that the
cable be sold to Cedar-Loo REACT for $1 . 00 . Ayes : Two. Absent :
Mollenhoff . Motion carried.

The following bids received for replacement of eight Jefferson
Street entry doors and hardware at the Five Sullivan Brothers
Convention Center were reviewed:

The city is responsible for the maintenance and replacement of all
doors and hardware at the Center. There are four interior and four
exterior doors for a total of eight doors per entry for a total of
thirty-two doors . In discussion with councilmembers and Holiday
Inn management, a schedule has been accepted to replace one set of
eight entry doors per year for the next four years . It was the
recommendation of Building Maintenance that the bid of Iowa Door
Closer in the amount of $9, 546 . 18 for eight entry doors at the
Holiday Inn be approved. Moved by Getty, seconded by Krizek that
said recommendation be approved. Ayes : Three . Motion carried.
Moved by Getty, seconded by Krizek that Bills Payment, as contained
in Schedule AP640, pp. 1-89 dated July 22, 1996 in the amount of
$2, 580, 653 . 69 be received, placed on file and forwarded to the full
council for approval . Ayes : Three . Motion carried.
With no further business before the committee, it was moved by
Krizek, seconded by Getty that the meeting be adjourned at 4 :48
p.m. Ayes : Three. Motion carried.
