Moved by Krizek, seconded by Getty that the Agenda, as amended to delete item number nine under new business and correcting the budget line items to be amended for the City Planner, be approved. Ayes : Three . Motion carried. Moved by Getty, seconded by Krizek that the Minutes of July 7, 1996, as proposed, be approved. Ayes : Three . Motion carried. Bids for a copier in the City Clerk and Finance Department were reviewed. The department had a trial demonstration period for two of the copier models in the bid proposals . Three bids were received with the following results : Brand Machine Cost 4 Yr Mntc Cost Total Cost Canon NP6060 $14, 018 $12 , 384 $26, 402 Ricoh FT6665 $14, 400 $11, 350 $25, 950 Sharp SD2060 $17, 685 $11, 340 $29, 025 The Sharp model is recommended for award of bid based on performance, ease of use and document feeder. Sharp has also included the refurbishment of the department' s old copier as part of their bid price. The old copier will then be given to the Recreation Department for further use . It was moved by Getty, seconded by Krizek to approve the recommendation for award of bid to Sharp for a cost of $29, 025 over four years . Ayes : Three . Motion carried. The request of Building Maintenance to purchase a forktruck battery and charger to replace a battery which will no longer hold a charge and a 24 volt battery charger was reviewed. The forklift truck uses a 36 volt battery which is a twenty year old model and is odd sized. Lifttruck Service has located a replacement battery and rebuilt charger. It was moved by Getty, seconded by Krizek to authorize the purchase of a replacement battery for $ 1, 935 . 00 and rebuilt charger for $765 . 00 from Liftruck Service. Ayes : Three . Motion carried. Proposals received for elevator and escalator maintenance at the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center were reviewed. Proposals were solicited from three elevator service companies with only two vendors responding. The hotel management has been paying for the service agreement since the original lease agreement was signed even though escalator and elevator maintenance became the City' s responsibility after the 1993 amendment was signed. It was moved by Getty, seconded by Krizek to approve the award of bid for elevator and escalator maintenance at the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center to Schumacher Elevator in the amount of $690 . 00 per month. Ayes : Three. Motion carried. The request of Building Maintenance for authorization to seek requests for design/build proposals for the purchase and installation of energy conservation lighting fixtures was reviewed. Currently, east side ramps have high pressure sodium lighting and it is estimated that the estimated yearly savings by replacing current fluorescent fixtures will be $24 , 700 annually. The estimated cost of fixtures and installation is $90, 000 which would have an energy payback timeframe of 3 . 75 years . Building maintenance recommends that request for proposals be based on minimum acceptable foot candles with successful bidders choosing the vendor product which best fits the measurable quality of foot candles of light .
