Moved by Welper, seconded by Cole that the Agenda, as amended, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Welper, seconded by Cole that the Minutes of April 13, 2009, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Welper, seconded by Cole that the request of the Superintendent of Streets for authorization to seek bids for various asphalt emulsions/bituminous products for the upcoming oiling, seal coating, chip sealing, fog sealing and crack sealing programs be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. The following bids received for survey services for a portion of Iowa Department of Transportation land were reviewed: Bidder Bid Amount Claassen Engineering $500.00 Kess & Associates, Inc. $520.00 Helland Engineering, LTD $645.00 The services include surveying a portion of Iowa Department of Transportation land for purpose of extending utilities to serve city-owned land to the west of property located at the corner of Greenhill Road and on-ramp to University Avenue eastbound. It was the recommendation of the Community Planning & Development Director that the low bid in the amount of$500.00 from Claassen Engineering be accepted. Moved by Welper, seconded by Cole that said recommendation be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. The following bids received for appraisal services were reviewed: Bidder Bid Amount Valuation Services, Inc. $ 800.00 Rally Appraisal, LLC $1,200.00 The services includes appraisal of a 60' x 140' portion of Iowa Department of Transportation right-of-way to the west of property located at the corner of Greenhill Road and on-ramp to University Avenue eastbound for purpose of establishing a utility easement. It was the recommendation of the Community Planning & Development Director that the low bid in the amount of$800.00 from Valuation Services, Inc. be accepted. Moved by Welper, seconded by Cole that said recommendation be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Welper, seconded by Cole that the request of the City Clerk for authorization to seek bids for handheld ticket writers be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Welper, seconded by Cole that the recommendation of the Superintendent of Central Garage to accept bid in the amount of$14,910.00 from C&C Welding for purchase of 14 trailers to transport 4" flood pumps and purchase of hour-meters at a cost of$672.00, and not to exceed $3,500.00 for auxiliary fuel tanks, for a total cost not to exceed $19,082.00 be approved. Moved by Welper, seconded by Cole that a travel request for Fire Captain to attend Safety Officer Training Course in Des Moines, Iowa on May 7-8, 2009, with costs not to exceed $230.00, be approved.
