Moved by Welper, seconded by Cole that the request of Human Rights Director to expend $90.00 for rental and refreshments for Men for a Positive Mind event at Talk Shop Café on November 19 and December 3, 2008, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Welper, seconded by Cole that the request of the City Planner for authorization to purchase two GIS workstations at a cost of $7,707.92 be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Welper, seconded by Cole that a travel request for City Clerk to attend 63`1 International Institute of Municipal Clerk Annual Conference in Chicago, Illinois on May 19-23, 2009, with costs not to exceed $1,530.00, be approved. Moved by Welper, seconded by Cole that a travel request for Community Development Director to travel with the Cedar Valley Coalition Group to meet with Congressional Delegation in Washington, DC on February 27-March 3, 2009, with costs not to exceed $1,540.00, be approved. Moved by Welper, seconded by Cole that at ravel request for Manager of Rehabilitation Services to attend recertification for Lead Abatement Contractor and Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor Class in Omaha,Nebraska on January 5-8, 2009, with costs not to exceed $830.00, be approved. Moved by Welper, seconded by Cole that a travel request for Manager of Rehabilitation Services to attend Lead Contractor Refresher Course in Dubuque, Iowa on February 20, 2009, with costs not to exceed $200.00, be approved. Moved by Welper, seconded by Cole that the request of Human Rights Director to expend $450.00 for rental fee and refreshments for Young Men In Action event at Talk Shop Café on December 17, 2008; January 7 & 14, 2009; February 4 & 18, 2009; March 4 & 18, 2009; April 1 & 15, 2009; and May 6, 2009, be approved. Councilperson Cole stated she has concerns about paying a year in advance. Michelle Weidner, Chief Financial Officer, stated that she asked that the entire program be submitted rather than just $90.00 at a time. Ms. Weidner noted that the cost is for food and rental of the room. Councilperson Welper stated he visited with Mayor Hurley regarding this request and Mayor is okay with the request. Councilperson Hart stated that the rental is normally $250.00 per program. Ms. Weidner noted that City Hall has rooms that can be used for free. Councilperson Hart stated that not everyone likes to come to City Hall. Councilperson Reggie Schmitt questioned why tlie;'cy would pay for this when we are already paying for food and beverage.
