Moved by Welper, seconded by Cole that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Welper, seconded by Cole that the Minutes of February 25, 2008, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Welper, seconded by Cole that the request of the Fire Chief for approval of payment of $10,000.00 to UNI for planning, designing and completion of Evaluation of Fire Pals Education Program be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Welper, seconded by Cole that a travel request for City Engineer to attend American Public Works Association 2008 Mid-America Conference and Exhibit Show in Overland Park, Kansas on May 7-9, 2008, with costs not to exceed $585.00, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Welper, seconded by Cole that a travel request for Golf Manager to staff booth at LaCrosse Golf Show in LaCrosse, Wisconsin on March 14-16, 2008, with costs not to exceed $300.00, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Welper, seconded by Cole that the request of the City Clerk for authorization to seek bids for cell phones be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Welper, seconded by Cole that the request of the Superintendent of Central Garage for authorization to piggyback off of low (State) bid from Rydell Chevrolet for one 2008 Chevrolet Malibu for the Engineering Department at a cost of $18,236.41 be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Welper, seconded by Cole that the request of the Superintendent of Central Garage for authorization to piggyback off of low (State) bid from Rydell Chevrolet for one 2008 Chevrolet Malibu for the Planning and Zoning Department at a cost of $18,236.41 be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Welper, seconded by Cole that the request of the Fire Chief for authorization to seek bids for washer/extractor for fire turnout gear be approved. Ayes: Three. Moved by Cole, seconded by Welper that the request of the Leisure Services Director for pre- authorization to expend $5,550.00 for 30 trees to be supplied, delivered, planted and watered along San Marnan Drive be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Councilperson Steve Schmitt noted he had a call regarding tree trimming on Ridgeway Avenue, and that the caller thought that was not good long-range planning. Paul Huting, Leisure Services Director, responded that MidAmerican hires the contractor to trim the trees, and he would agree that planting the trees in that location was not good planning but that decision was made prior to the city employing a Forestry Coordinator. Moved by Cole, seconded by Welper that the request of the Police Chief for pre-authorization to expend $1,248.00,plus estimated shipping costs of$40.00, for a Dell brand computer for the Tri- County Task Force be approved. Moved by Cole, seconded by Welper that the request of the City Engineer for pre-authorization to expend $1,700.00 for maintenance agreements for the pavement management system software be approved.
