Moved by Greenwood, seconded by Gunderson that the Minutes of December 4, 2006, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Two. Absent: Cole. Motion carried. Moved by Greenwood, seconded by Gunderson that the request of the Superintendent of Central Garage for authorization to seek bids for purchase of eight 2007 patrol cars for the Police Department be approved. Ayes: Two. Absent: Cole. Motion carried. Moved by Greenwood, seconded by Gunderson that a yard waste refund in the amount of$18.00 for 3352 Rosehill Terrace be approved. Ayes: Two. Absent: Cole. Moved by Greenwood, seconded by Gunderson that a travel request for two Golf Maintenance IIIs and Golf Manager to attend Iowa Turfgrass Conference in Des Moines, Iowa on January 29- 31, 2007, with costs not to exceed $380.00, be approved. Moved by Greenwood, seconded by Gunderson that the request of Human Rights Director for refreshment expenses in the amount of$375.00 for Job Expo Workshop to be held at Hawkeye Community College on December 7, 2006, be approved. The request of the City Planner to accept the bid from Kess & Associates in the amount of $2,020.00 for surveying excess city property acquired as part of the 18th Street Bridge Project and Greenhill Road Project was reviewed. The lots will be surveyed to determine the exact boundaries and square footage and then be appraised in accordance with State Code regulations for disposal of land acquired with state funding. Moved by Greenwood, seconded by Gunderson that said request be approved. Ayes: Two. Absent: Cole. Motion carried. The request of the Assistant City Engineer for approval of repair of sanitary manhole at the intersection of Bertch Avenue and Denver Street at a cost of $21,247.34 was reviewed. Since the work involved required equipment that the city does not have, a local contractor was needed to complete the repairs. Petersen Contractors, Inc. was the only contractor available at the time to do the work. Moved by Greenwood, seconded by Gunderson that said request be approved. Ayes: Two. Absent: Cole. Motion carried. Moved by Greenwood, seconded by Gunderson that a travel request for Plan Review Specialist to attend 2006 International Existing Building Code Fundamentals class in Des Moines, Iowa on February 14, 2007, with costs not to exceed $125.00, be approved. Ayes: Two. Absent: Cole. Motion carried. Moved by Greenwood, seconded by Gunderson that a travel request for Chief Building Inspector and Chief HVAC Inspector to attend Changes to the 2006 International Building Code class in Des Moines, Iowa on February 13, 2007, with costs not to exceed $250.00, be approved. Moved by Greenwood, seconded by Gunderson that a travel request for Permit Writing Specialist to attend changes to the 2006 International Building Code and 2006 International Residential Code classes in Des Moines, Iowa on February 13 and 15, 2007, with costs not to exceed $250,00, be approved.
