Moved by Greenwood, seconded by Cole that the Minutes of November 13, 2006, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Greenwood, seconded by Cole that the request of the Police Chief for authorization to seek bids for a copy machine for the Records Section be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Greenwood, seconded by Cole that the recommendation of the Contracts and Grants Coordinator to award contract to Advanced Technologies in the amount not to exceed $1,500.00 for asbestos survey for 93-97 Vinton Street be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. The request of the Superintendent of Traffic Operations for authorization to purchase two video monitoring cameras from RC Systems at a cost not to exceed $16,000.00 for northbound Washington Street was reviewed. The city received a traffic safety grant in the amount of $232,482.90 for the safety improvement northbound Washington project. The final cost for construction of the safety improvements was $219,908.47. The Iowa Department of Transportation has given permission to use the balance of $12,574.43 to purchase the cameras. The remaining $3,425.57 will be paid with GO Bond funds. Being able to monitor and record the traffic flow at this intersection will help to improve the safety operations. The city received a traffic safety grant in the amount of$50,000.00 for the project. The $16,000.00 is 100 percent reimbursable. Moved by Greenwood, seconded by Cole that a travel request for Cultural & Arts Director and Curator to travel to NYC, Rhode Island and Boston on November 29-December 6, 2006, with costs not to exceed $3,210.00, be approved. Moved by Cole, seconded by Greenwood that the request of the Airport Director for pre- authorization to expend $6,997.27 for repairs to the transfer case of the airport snowplow vehicle be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Cole, seconded by Greenwood that the request of the Airport Director for pre- authorization to expend $1,535.60 for paint to repaint the runways, taxiways and ramps with required markings be approved. Moved by Cole, seconded by Greenwood that the request of the Building Official/Maintenance Administrator for pre-authorization to expend $2,320.00 for electrical services for Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center be approved.
