Moved by Greenwood, seconded by Cole that the Minutes of July 24, 2006, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Two. Absent: Gunderson. Motion carried. The request of the Police Chief for authorization to seek bids to replace canine lago was reviewed. Officer David McFarland's canine, lago, has been in service with the Police Department over seven years. lago is presently 10 years old, has reached his maximum years of productivity as a police canine and is beginning to show signs of age and fatigue. The Police Department learned today that lago has a congenital disease and is retiring him as of today. Replacement of lago will maintain the Police Department's canine unit at three dogs. Funds for this purchase are available in the Police Department's K-9 Program line item. Moved by Cole, seconded by Greenwood that said request be approved. Ayes: Two. Absent: Gunderson. Motion carried. The request of the Contracts and Grants Coordinator for authorization to seek bids for General Obligation Bond Demolition Project, Contract No. 144-D-GO-08-18-06, was reviewed. The three properties slated for demolition include: 2554 Edgemont Avenue, 407-409 Pine Street and 738 Mobile Street. Moved by Cole, seconded by Greenwood that said request be approved. Ayes: Two. Absent: Gunderson. Motion carried. The following bids received for F.Y. 2006 Traffic Control Repair of Railroad Crossings were reviewed: Bidder Bid Amount Service Signing, L.C. $2,500.00 Iowa Plains Signing, Inc. $4,200.00 It was the recommendation of the Associate Engineer that the low bid from Service Signing, L.C. in the amount of$2,500.00 be accepted. Moved by Cole, seconded by Greenwood that said recommendation be approved. Ayes: Two. Absent: Gunderson. Motion carried. Moved by Cole, seconded by Greenwood that meal expenditure in the amount of $350.00 for CVDAT, Community organizations, advocacy groups and faith-based organization event at Exchange Park on August 8, 2006, be approved.
