Moved by Welper, seconded by Clark that the Agenda, as amended to delete Item No. 9 under
New Business, be approved. Ayes: Two. Absent: Greenwood. Motion carried.
Moved by Welper, seconded by Clark that the Minutes of April 25, 2005, as proposed, be
approved. Ayes: Two. Absent: Greenwood. Motion carried.
Moved by Welper, seconded by Clark that the request of the Fire Chief for authorization to pay
an additional $404.93 for cost of repairs on Engine 308 for a total repair cost of$3,904.93 be
approved. Ayes: Two. Absent: Greenwood. Motion carried.
The request of the Superintendent of Central Garage for authorization to purchase a new trailer at
a cost of$1,490.00 for the Traffic Operations Department was reviewed. A new trailer is needed
to transport the newly purchased paint striping system. The price for an all aluminum trailer is
$1,490.00, less trade-in of$800.00 for a net cost of$690.00. Moved by Welper, seconded by
Clark that said request be approved. Ayes: Two. Absent: Greenwood. Motion carried.
The following bids received for line striping system for the Traffic Operations Department were
reviewed:

Spray Tech Systems, Inc. $18,269.00
It was the recommendation of the Superintendent of Central Garage that the low bid from
Diamond Vogel Paints of Cedar Falls, Iowa in the amount of$13,938.00 be accepted. Moved by
Welper, seconded by Clark that said recommendation be approved. Ayes: Two. Absent:
Greenwood. Motion carried.
The request of the Fire Chief for authorization to purchase parts at a cost of up to $5,000.00 to
rebuild the brake system on Engine 302 was reviewed. Engine 302 is one of Waterloo Fire
Rescue's reserve engines and is used while first line engines are being services or repaired. The
brake parts will have to be specialty built and could cost up to $5,000.00. The truck is a 1980
American LaFrance. Moved by Welper, seconded by Clark that said request be approved. Ayes:
Two. Absent: Greenwood. Motion carried.
Moved by Welper, seconded by Clark that a travel request for Police Lieutenant, Sergeant and
Officer to attend the Urban Potential Seminar in Waterloo, Iowa on April 28, 2005, with costs
not to exceed $198.00, be approved. Ayes: Two. Absent: Greenwood. Motion carried.
Moved by Welper, seconded by Clark that a travel request for Fair Housing Coordinator to
attend Nation Fair Housing Training in Washington, DC on May 16-20, 2005, with costs not to
exceed $1,925.00, be approved. Ayes: Two. Absent: Greenwood. Motion carried.
Moved by Welper, seconded by Clark that a travel request for Curator to return art exhibition
and pick up art exhibition in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and Nyack, New York on May 25-30,
2005, with costs not to exceed $1,429..00, be approved. Ayes: Two. Absent: Greenwood.

Attorney Generals 2005 Victim Justice Conference in Des Moines, Iowa on May 23-24, 2005,
