Moved by Welper, seconded by Clark that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Three.
Motion carried.
Moved by Welper, seconded by Clark that the Minutes of April 18, 2005, as proposed, be
approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Welper, seconded by Clark that the request of the Superintendent of Central Garage
for authorization to seek bids for three full size pick-up trucks and related equipment for the
Engineering Department, two 1-ton trucks with utility bodies and related equipment for Leisure
Services and one used cab over truck with flat bed and related equipment for Traffic Operations
be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Welper, seconded by Clark that a travel request for Police Investigator to attend Less
Lethal Munition Instructor Class in Des Moines, Iowa on June 1-2, 2005, with costs not to
exceed $527.00, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Welper, seconded by Clark that a travel request for Garage Mechanic to attend Elgin
Pelican Sweeper Training Seminar in Elgin, Illinois on May 9-12, 2005, with costs not to exceed
$200.00, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Welper, seconded by Clark that a travel request for two Police Investigators to attend
Midwest Gang Investigators Association Annual Training Conference in Dubuque, Iowa on May
22-25, 2005, with costs not to exceed $1,127.00, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Clark, seconded by Welper that the request of the Fire Chief to pay an additional cost
of$92.16 for the cost of fire gear, for a total of$4,497.26 be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion
carried.
Moved by Clark, seconded by Welper that the request of the Building Official/Maintenance
Administrator for pre-authorization to expend $1,350.00 for chilled water coil for A/C unit at
Carnegie Annex be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Clark, seconded by Welper that the request of the Superintendent of Traffic
Operations for pre-authorization to expend $5,300.00 for two EPAC controllers, with one to be
installed in the new cabinet at the intersection of 1st, Franklin and Mullan and one will be used as
a spare in case of a malfunction or failure be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Clark, seconded by Welper that the request of the Superintendent of Traffic
Operations for pre-authorization to expend $2,272.00 for yellow LEDs for San Marnan/LaPorte
Road battery back-up system and Walk/Don't Walks needed for Donald/Hwy 63 be approved.
Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Clark, seconded by Welper that the request of the Building Official/Maintenance
Administrator for pre-authorization to expend $1,508.45 for repair of damage on toilet partitions
and curtain walls at the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center be approved. Councilperson
Clark asked if the Ramada Inn would share in the costs of the repairs. Lou Cutwright responded
that the city is negotiating a new contract with Ramada Inn, but at this time they are not required
to share in the cost of these repairs. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Clark, seconded by Welper that the request of the Police Chief for pre-authorization to
expend $11,175.44 for eight Dell brand laptop computers, model Inspiron 2200 and two Dell
brand color laser printers be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
