The request of the Police Chief for authorization to purchase a HP color laserjet printer at an approximate cost of $2,913.00 was reviewed. The printer is used by the Police Department's Administrative Division. The current color laserjet printer is approximately four years old and has been repeatedly malfunctioning due to paper path problems. Iowa Business Machines Inc. estimated that it would cost $1,020.50 to repair the printer and $2,913.00 for a new laserjet printer. Moved by Welper, seconded by Clark that said request be approved. Ayes: Two. Absent: Greenwood. Motion carried. Eric Thorson, City Engineer, updated the committee on the F.Y. 2004 Sidewalk Repair Program, Contract No. 677. Recently, the Engineering Technician assigned to the sidewalk program was preparing a pay estimate for the contractor and noticed that the contract payments had almost reached the contract amount, with many sidewalk areas marked left to repair. After review, it was discovered that a group of repair forms and the associated quantities were accidentally left out of the bid documents. These repair areas had been marked in the field, forms completed and enough GO Bond Funds secured to cover the repairs. A change order will include an approximate $39,000.00 increase because of the repair forms that were not included. It will also include an increase of$18,531.26 for sidewalk repairs around City Hall that were moved up to be completed before the landscaping project. Enough funds had been budgeted and the contractor is moving ahead to complete the project. Moved by Welper, seconded by Clark that a travel request for two Police Officers to attend Region 3 Annual In-Service Training Conference in Des Moines, Iowa on October 17-21, 2004, with costs not to exceed $1,612.12, be approved. Moved by Clark, seconded by Welper that the request of the Leisure Services Director for pre- authorization to expend $3,000.00 to purchase herbicide to spray parks be approved. Ayes: Two. Moved by Clark, seconded by Welper that the request of the Leisure Services Director for pre- authorization to expend $4,176.00, plus shipping costs of$1,152.00, for diamond mix for youth baseball softball diamonds be approved. Moved by Clark, seconded by Welper that the request of the Leisure Services Director for pre- authorization to expend $3,500.00 for fee to Struxture Architects to provide a master plan for improvements to Riverfront Stadium, which includes future remodeling of team locker rooms, showers, concessions, etc. be approved. Moved by Clark, seconded by Welper that the request of the Police Chief for authorization to increase Line Item 3361 (State Grant) in the amount of $6,000.00, Line Item 2127 (Photo Equipment) in the amount of$3,500.00 and Line Item 1114 (Time and Half) in the amount of $2,500.00 be approved.
