Moved by Welper, seconded by Clark that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Welper, seconded by Clark that the Minutes of April 12, 2004, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. The following bids received for V-Box Salt Spreaders were reviewed: Bidder Bid Amount Trans Iowa Equipment $32,811.00 Stuber Trucks $36,612.00 Eddy Walker Equipment $27,219.00—did not meet specifications Future Line $27,298.53 Three V-Box Salt Spreaders would be purchased for the Street Department. It was the recommendation of the Superintendent of Central Garage that the bid from Future Lines in the amount of $27,298.53 be accepted. Moved by Welper, seconded by Clark that said recommendation be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. The request of the Airport Director for $5,000.00 hotel/motel discretionary funds for the promotion of the airport terminal dedication and additional jet services was reviewed. The terminal project is substantially complete and the additional flight and jet upgrade is effective May 1, 2004. Recently, community leaders from Waterloo and Cedar Falls, both Chambers of Commerce and the Cedar Falls Convention and Visitors Bureaus have worked to identify dates and times for a press release and public open house. The committee has also identified some marketing and promotion ideas for the terminal dedication. The proposed budget for the promotion is $10,000.00. A press release is scheduled for April 30, 2004 and an open house is scheduled for May 1, 2004. Moved by Welper, seconded by Clark that said request be approved. Prior to a vote on the above motion, the following comments were heard. Michelle Weidner, Chief Financial Officer, suggested transferring the $5,000.00 hotel/motel tax grant previously awarded to the Reichert Pleasure Horse Celebration for this event. With the approval of the mover and seconder, the above motion was withdrawn. Moved by Welper, seconded by Clark that the $5,000.00 hotel/motel tax grant previously awarded to the Reichert Pleasure Horse Celebration be awarded for the promotion of the airport terminal dedication and additional jet services. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Welper, seconded by Clark that a garbage refund in the amount of$124.50 for 2217 West 8th Street be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. The request of the City Engineer for authorization to dispose of a portable nuclear gauge at an approximate cost of$395.00 was reviewed. The Seaman Nuclear Gauge purchased in 1979 is outdated for the Engineering Depai lnient's purposes. The Seaman Nuclear Company will dispose of the gauge for $295.00, plus approximately $100.000 shipping costs, for a total cost of $395.00. Upon payment they will send a letter that they have disposed of the gauge properly and that letter can be forwarded to the Department of Health in compliance with the regulations. Moved by Welper, seconded by Clark that the travel request for Police Investigator to attend Midwest Gang Investigator's Association Annual Conference in St. Charles, Illinois on May 1-5, 2004, with costs not to exceed$787.00,be approved.
