Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that the Minutes of October 27, 2003, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. The request of the Fire Chief for authorization to seek bids for a new ambulance and related equipment was reviewed. Purchase of the ambulance is part of the 2004 General Obligation Bonds equipment replacement program. The new ambulance will replace a 1995 medic unit. The new ambulance will reduce maintenance cost and increase safety and reliability. Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that said request be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that a sewer refund in the amount of$1,449.84 for 3720 Village Place be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that a sewer refund in the amount of$4,193.42 for 1844 W. Ridgeway Avenue be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that a travel request for City Attorney to attend Iowa Municipal Attorney's Association 2003 Annual Seminar in West Des Moines on November 21, 2003, with costs not to exceed$141.00,be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that a travel request for Assistant City Attorney to attend New City Attorneys Institute in Urbandale, Iowa on November 20, 2003, with costs not to exceed$111.00, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that a travel request for Rehabilitation Specialist to attend MSA Professional Training Refresher Course in Dubuque, Iowa on November 13, 2003, with costs not to exceed$315.00, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that a travel request for two Police Investigators to attend State and Local Anti-Terrorism Workshop in Dubuque, Iowa on November 17-20, 2003, with costs not to exceed$469.00,be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that a travel request for Chief Financial Officer to attend Extra Strength GASB #34 Class in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on November 14, 2003, with costs not to exceed $300.00,be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that a travel request for Executive Director and CVDAT Coordinating Council Member of Human Rights Commission to attend Investing In Iowa's Youth, Investing in Iowa's Future Second Annual Conference in Des Moines, Iowa on November 13-14, 2003, with costs not to exceed $382.16, be approved. Councilperson Clark questioned the need of $100.00 for meals as breakfast and lunch is furnished as part of the conference fee. Walter Reed, Executive Director of Human Rights Commission, responded that the$100.00 amount is a mistake and will be corrected. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that the request of the Building Official/Maintenance Administrator for pre-authorization to expend $3,201.04 for a new hot water holding tank for the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that the request of the Leisure Services Director for pre- authorization to expend $2,332.00 for labor and materials to install windows at the Gates Pro Shop be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
