Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that the Minutes of September 22, 2003, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. The following bids received for laundry service for the Fire Department were reviewed: Bidder Bid Amount G &K Services $ 85.63 per week Aramark $136.77 per week City Laundry $103.81 per week It is the recommendation of the Fire Chief that the low bid of G & K Services in the amount of $85.63 per week be accepted. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that said recommendation be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. The following bids received for a copier for the Fire Department were reviewed: Bidder Bid Amount Iowa Business Machine $2,942.56 Automated Business Products $2,996.00 Ikon $3,958.00 The bid received from Iowa Business Machine is for a Sharp AR-M208 and includes a five year maintenance contract. It is the recommendation of the Fire Chief that the low bid from Iowa Business Machine for a Sharp AR-M208 copier in the amount of$2,942.56 be accepted. Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that said recommendation be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that the request of the Fire Chief to purchase 170 smoke detectors at a cost of$2,830.00 be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. The request of the Fire Chief for authorization to purchase five Opticom emitters at a total cost of$5,000.00 was reviewed. Reinbeck Ambulance will reimburse Waterloo Fire Rescue for the expense of two emitters, Fairbank Ambulance will reimburse for one and Evansdale Fire Department for two emitters, along with the overtime incurred by Waterloo Fire Rescue for their mechanic to install them in the ambulances. Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that said request be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. The request of the Fire Chief for authorization to purchase two Opticom emitters at a cost of $1,990.00 was reviewed. Dysart Ambulance will reimburse Waterloo Fire Rescue for the expense of the emitters along with the overtime costs incurred by Fire Rescue mechanic to install the emitters in the ambulances. Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that said request be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. The request of the Superintendent of Central Garage for flexibility to decide whether to purchase new or used equipment for the FY04 Capital Equipment Program was reviewed. This year's purchases include squad cars, pickups, dump trucks and new cars. All equipment being bid will be brought back to the committee.
