Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that the Minutes of July 21, 2003, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Two. Absent: Jordan. Motion carried. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that the request of the Associate Engineer for authorization to purchase four new CAD stations at a cost of$6,238.56, plus shipping, and one HP Laserjet 4200 printer at a cost of $1,566.00 and one HP LaserJet printer at a cost of $1,375.00 be approved. Ayes: Two. Absent: Jordan. Motion carried. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that a garbage refund in the amount of$51.00 for 1254 Edgewood Drive be approved. Ayes: Two. Absent: Jordan. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that a travel request for Police Officer to attend Open Sight Rifle Instructor Certification Course in Johnston, Iowa on August 17-22, 2003, with costs not to exceed $435.00, be approved. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that a travel request for Police Sergeant to attend Developing a Public Safety Fitness Program Seminar in Des Moines, Iowa on July 29-30, 2003, with costs not to exceed$430.00, be approved. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that a travel request for the Executive Director, Fair Housing Coordinator and three Human Rights Commissioners to attend HUD 2003 Western Regional FHIP/FHAP Fair Housing Training Conference in San Diego, California on August 25- 29, 2003, with costs not to exceed $7,515.20, be approved. Prior to a vote on the above motion, the following comments were heard. Walter Reed, Executive Director of Human Rights Commission, reported that his office is notified by HUD in June, and they identify the number of persons to send to the training. Mr. Reed stated that this travel request will be funded through the Fair Housing grant. Mr. Reed stated that in the future HUD will be asking that a council member and c ity attorney attend these conferences. Councilperson Hurley requested that Mr. Reed and Brian Krischke submit a written report of highlights of the conference to the council. Following comments a vote was taken on the above motion with the following result. Ayes: Two. Absent: Jordan. Motion carried. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that a travel request for Assistant City Engineer to attend Mid-Continent Transportation Research Symposium in Ames, Iowa on August 21-22, 2003, with costs not to exceed $228.40,be approved. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that the request of Mayor Rooff for approval of payment of $264.72 for Mayor's Volunteer Luncheon and Mayor's Top Teen Luncheon be approved. Ayes: Two. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that the request of the Airport Director for pre- authorization to expend $3,410.00 for annual pavement maintenance, seal cracks in runway, taxiway and apron pavement be approved. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that the request of the Airport Director for pre- authorization to expend $885.00 for emergency repairs to McCandless hangar be approved. Ayes: Two. Absent: Jordan.
