Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that the request of the Airport Director for approval of an invoice from R & L Landing in the amount of $899.97 for catering services for NorthWest Airline Press Conference on May 2, 2003 be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that a travel request for Contracts Compliance & Grants Coordinator to attend the Region VII All Pilots Forum in Chicago, Illinois on June 23-26, 2003, with costs not to exceed$1,060.00, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that a travel request for Human Resources Director to attend National Society of Human Resource Management's Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida on June 21-25, 2003, with costs not to exceed $2,460.00, be approved. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that an amendment to the travel request for the Airport Director to attend 75th Annual American Association of Airport Executives 2003 in Los Angeles, California on April 26 - May 1, 2003 with costs increased from $2,831.00 to $3,498.92 be approved. Committee members had questions for the Airport Director who was not present. It was then moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that said amendment be tabled for one week. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. The request of the Waterloo Housing Director for authorization to purchase eight computers and monitors at an estimated cost of$819 per unit was reviewed. Waterloo Housing currently has $22,000 budgeted for this type of purchase. The Waterloo Housing Authority Board approved said purchase at their April 17, 2003 meeting, and the Computer Technical Review Committee recommended approval of the purchase on May 14, 2003. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that said request be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. The request of the Building Official/Maintenance Administrator for approval of additional deck work at the Byrnes Swimming Pool at a cost of$20,513.00 was reviewed. After starting deck replacement and zero depth pool renovation a the Byrnes Swimming Pool, it was discovered that more concrete deck had to be removed because of two items. The elevation of the wading pool was approximately 6" to 9" higher than the main pool. To achieve proper fall and drainage, the deck had to be removed. The drain in front of the bathhouse had to be replaced because of age and damage. The additional concrete around the area had to be removed and replaced to affect proper drainage. Dolan Concrete completed the deck work last week, and the cost for the additional deck work was $20,513.00. Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that said request be approved. Ayes: Three. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that the request of the Fire Chief for pre-authorization to expend $3,849.00 to purchase fire extinguisher powder and cartridges for use in fire extinguisher training be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that the request of the Leisure Services Director for pre- authorization to expend $4,000.00 to purchase a sod cutter be approved.
