Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that the Minutes of May 5, 2003, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that the request of the Police Chief for authorization to seek bids for uniforms and supplies be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that the request of the Police Chief for authorization to seek bids for photographic supplies and processing be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that the request of the Police Chief for authorization to seek bids for ammunition and supplies be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that a travel request for the Mayor to attend GFOA meeting and meeting with Moody's Investment in New York, New York on May 16-20, 2003, with costs not to exceed $1,443.00, be approved. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that a travel request for the Human Rights Director, Education/Outreach Director, CVDAT Coordinating Council Member and Commissioners to attend Building Racially Inclusive Communities Conference in Des Moines, Iowa on May 15-16, 2003, with costs not to exceed$886.80, be approved. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that a travel request for CVDAT Members, Commissioners and Human Rights Commission staff to attend 26th Annual KBBG Banquet in Waterloo, Iowa on May 10, 2003, with costs not to exceed $280.00, be approved. The following bids received for a 3/4 ton, 4X4 pickup truck for the Sign & Traffic Department were reviewed: Bidder Rid Amount Rydell Chevrolet No Bid Community Motors NO Bid Dick Witham Ford $26,417.00 Bill Colwell Ford $26,111.35 It was the recommendation of the Superintendent of Central Garage that the bid from Dick Witham Ford at a cost of $26,417.00 be accepted because the bid received from Bill Colwell Ford did not meet bid specifications. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that the request of the Police Chief for pre-authorization to expend $2,235.0 to pay for bulletproof vests be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that the request of the Superintendent of Traffic Operations for pre-authorization to expend $15,000.00 for new street name signs be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that the request of the Superintendent of Traffic Operations for pre-authorization to expend $6,500.00 to purchase Opticom system for the construction of he Highway 21 Emergency Access be approved.
